Biljana Stepanović biography

Biljana Stepanović is the founder and CEO of Business Info Group, a media company that publishes the monthly magazine Nova ekonomija, the daily economic portal www.novaekonomija.rs and several annual specialized editions. She organizes domestic and international B2B conferences and conducts courses and training for companies, organizations, institutions, and students.

She has organized over 150 domestic and international conferences, round tables, and debates on various economic, environmental, and social topics. She regularly organizes conferences and debates on professional media work, ethical reporting and advertising, and compliance with journalists' codes of conduct.

She is the author of the Handbook for Economic Journalists with the support of the OSCE and is an OSCE lecturer in the field of communication, public speaking, and media relations. In cooperation with the OSCE and the Thomson Foundation, she has authored several online courses on economic journalism and media relations.

She has published two books of interviews with leading journalists in Serbia featuring 100 public figures from various professions in Serbia, published in Nova ekonomija, on how to improve Serbian society and the state and stop the decline and destruction of institutions, titled "Neću da ćutim" (I Won't Be Silent) and "Hoću da kažem" (I Want to Say).

Sarađuje sa velikim brojem domaćih i međunarodnih organizacija.

She is a member of the Board of Directors of the Association of Media of Serbia.

She is a regular columnist for the N1 portal.

Previous Work:

  • She was the director of Ekonomist Media Group when it was the leading economic media company in Serbia.
  • She founded and led the monthly magazine "Bankar" within the same group.
  • She hosted three economic TV shows on national television: "Buđelar" on TV B92, "Ekonom i ja" on RTS, and "Ekonomija 3" on TV Vojvodina.
  • She was the economics editor on television, radio, and the B92 web portal.
  • She was a columnist for the daily newspaper Danas.
  • She was a long-time correspondent for Radio Free Europe in Serbia (RFE).
  • She worked as an economic journalist at the weekly magazine NIN.
  • She began her career at the daily newspaper Borba in 1987 during her studies, at a time when that newspaper was declared the newspaper of the year in the former Yugoslavia. Together with most of the editorial staff, she participated in the founding of the daily newspaper Naša Borba.

She graduated from the Faculty of Political Sciences in Belgrade, journalism department. She has been involved in economic journalism since the beginning of her career.
