Ljubomir Simović rođen je 2. decembra 1935. godine u Užicu, a preminuo je 2025. godine. U rodnom gradu je završio osnovnu i srednju školu, a diplomirao je na Filološkom fakultetu Univerziteta u Beogradu, na grupi za istoriju jugoslovenske književnosti i srpskohrvatski jezik.
During his studies, he worked as an editor and editor-in-chief of the student literary magazine "Vidici". He spent his working life as an editor in the cultural department of Radio Belgrade.
He has published poetry books:
"Slavic Elegies" (1958), "Joyful Graves" (1961), "The Last Land" (1964), "Helmets" (1967), "On the Eve of the Third Roosters" (1972), "Saturday" (1976), "View on Two Waters" (1980), "Mind Beyond the Sea" (1982), "Ten Addresses to the Three-Handed Mother of God of Hilandar" (1983), "Sources" (1983), "Upper Town" (1990, two editions), "Needle and Thread" (1992), "Eggshell" (1998)
A selection of Simović's poetry has been published in the books "Selected Poems" (1980), "Bread and Salt" (1985, 1987), "Sources and Other Poems" (1994), "Learning in the Dark" (1995).
Simović has written four plays:
"Hasanaginica", "Miracle in Šargan", "The Travelling Theatre of Šopalović", and "Battle of Kosovo". His plays have been performed on many stages in our country, as well as abroad. "The Travelling Theatre of Šopalović" has achieved the most success, being staged in Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, France, Switzerland, Canada, Belgium, and in a French theatre in Morocco, in Casablanca. He has won numerous awards. On December 15, 1988, Simović was elected as a corresponding member, and on October 27, 1994, as a full member of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts.
