Tamara Džamonja Ignjatović biography

Tamara Džamonja Ignjatović is a full professor at the Department of Psychology, Faculty of Philosophy, University of Belgrade. She teaches courses in clinical psychology and mental health. Previously, she worked at the Clinic for Psychiatry, Clinical Centre of Serbia, where she completed her specialization in medical psychology at the Faculty of Medicine in Belgrade.

She has taught for over 20 years at the Faculty of Political Sciences. She is the author and co-author of over 250 scientific and professional publications, around 20 monographs, 30 chapters in international and national publications and proceedings. She has participated in numerous research projects in the field of psychology and social welfare, funded by the Ministry of Science and Technological Development, as well as other domestic and international organizations such as UNICEF, OSCE, the Government of Norway, the Tempus program, and the European Union funds.

Professor Tamara Džamonja Ignjatović's primary interests include clinical psychology, psychological personality assessment, psychotherapy and counseling, the development of social welfare services and the improvement of mental health, as well as the application of mediation in various areas. She founded the Specialist Academic Studies in Mediation and led the Center for Research in Social Policy and Social Work. She has created and conducted educational seminars in the field of clinical personality assessment, communication skills, mediation, treatment for children and youth with behavioral problems, treatment of individuals with traumatic experiences, etc.

She has been a visiting lecturer at the International Psychoanalytic University in Berlin and at BOŠ. She was a scholarship holder of the Albert Ellis Institute Summer School in New York and a member of the Society for Personality Assessment (SPA). She is currently a member of the editorial board of the journal Psychological Research and the editor of the psychological library Imago, published by Klio Publishing House. She received the Živorad Žiža Vasić Award in 2019 for the popularization of psychology and twice the Ljubomir Ljuba Stojić Award for contribution to the work and development of the professional association of psychologists awarded by the Psychological Society of Serbia. She was elected President of the Psychological Society of Serbia in 2021 and currently holds that position. For her social engagement, the Feminist Cultural Center BeFem awarded her the Recognition for Feminist Ethics of Care in 2024 as part of the Bring the Noize awards.
