Vladimir S. Kostić, a retired neurologist, was born in 1953 in Belgrade, where he completed all levels of education, including the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Belgrade. A specialist in neuropsychiatry, he has been working at the Clinic for Neurology of the Clinical Center of Serbia (CCS) since 1980, where he served as director from 2000 to 2015 and as head of the Department for Neurodegenerative Diseases since 1987. Having obtained all academic titles, he retired as a full professor of neurology at the Faculty of Medicine in Belgrade. Currently, he holds the position of emeritus professor at the University of Belgrade.
Throughout his career, he has spent time working in the United States and the United Kingdom. Since 2000, he has been a member of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts (SASA), serving as its president from 2015 to 2023. He is an honorary president of the Serbian Neurological Society and the Neurological Society of Republika Srpska. Vladimir S. Kostić's scientific interest is focused on degenerative diseases of the central nervous system, primarily on etiopathogenesis and treatment.
He is the author and co-author of 7 books and 12 monographs, as well as over 300 scientific papers.
